Capcom has announced that theResident EvilShowcase will be happening on October 20. Given the high praise of the eighth installment in the series, which went down asone of the best horror games of 2021, as well as fans anticipating the remake ofRE4, the flagship survival games seem to be at the peak of their popularity at the moment. With Halloween just around the corner, now seems like the perfect opportunity to tease more content.Recently,Capcom released a trailer for the upcomingResident EvilShowcase, though at the time there was no indication of exactly when it would be taking place. Fans have since wondering what the developer has in store and waiting for a concrete date. Much of the what’s on everyone’s lips will be the Gold Edition ofResident Evil 8, which will be dropping on October 28. The times have also been revealed, and things will be kicking off at 3:00 PM PDT, 6 PM EDT, and 11 PM BST. The tweet is accompanied by a 30-second teaser trailer that gives some information about what fans can expect. Capcom also says people are welcome to stream and watch the event on their own channels.
The showcase will primarily put focus onResident Evil Village’s upcoming Gold Edition, which will feature theShadows of Roseexpansion, a new third-person mode, and new playable characters in Mercenaries mode. As well as this, the developer will demonstrate some new footage from the eagerly awaited remake ofResident Evil 4. The trailer also says there is “more on the menu,” but there’s no other information on what that could entail. In general, it sounds like it’s going to be a pretty exciting event for fans of the series.
There have been hopes of aResident Evil 9being in pre-production, but so far nothing has been confirmed by official sources. Whether or not the showcase will be an opportunity for Capcom to announce a follow-up toVillageis pure speculation at this stage. Of course, many would love to see a new entry, but at the very least, theRE4gameplay footage plus more details about the Gold Edition should be enough to satiate fans for now.
