Over the past few weeks, this year’sCall of Dutyrelease has been the target of plenty of leaks, rumors, and speculation. While Activision has yet to comment, most information fans have seen seem to revolve around a reimaging of Treyarch’sCall of Duty: Black Ops. In fact, the most recent leak indicates that the game willactually be calledCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. As Treyarch appears to be set to return to its roots,Call of Duty: Warzonemay also factor into preparing the community for this year’s game.
All of this recent information comes fromCall of Dutyleaker Okami, who kicked things off by posting a mock up of the box art for the heavily rumored 2020 game. However, while other outlets are starting to corroborate the information with their own sources, this latest leak also lines up with what players have begun to see inside ofCall of Duty: Warzoneand the recent opening of the bunkers.

Earlier this week, playersdiscovered that Bunker 11 remained sealedeven though the others could now be opened. However, players were able to glitch through the sealed doors using a drone and discover a large network of rooms including one that contained what appears to be a nuke. While the bunker remains shut, it appears that Raven Software and Infinity Ward have some interesting plans for the mode going forward.
Reports indicate thatWarzoneis going to beslowly teasing out Cold War related contentover time. Part of this plan may have been discovered earlier by dataminers who stumbled into in-game models of Black Ops related content which is currently no where inside ofModern WarfareorWarzone. The classic RC-XD, remote controlled car strapped with explosives, and a Cold War inspired spy plane that looks curiously like the drone from the originalBlack Opswere discovered in the game’s files.
Leaks are nothing new for theCall of Dutyfranchise as most rumors and speculation regarding the upcoming release typically picks up in the spring.Call of Duty: Modern Warfarehas also seen its fair share of leaks since it released back in October 2019 especially surrounding the wildly popularWarzonebattle royale. Prior to its release earlier this year, many ofthe details surrounding the mode were outlong before Activision was ready to talk about it. While these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt for now, there’s at least a long and established pattern which does make these rumors seem a bit more plausible.
