ACall of Duty: Warzone 2player has recently taken to social media to voice their frustration with how the game’s developers went about implementing Mortar Strikes. The development is just the latest complaint fans have had about the game, which include glitches andCall of Duty: Warzone 2exploits, many of which are yet to be fixed.
Despite these issues, the follow-up toCall of Duty: Warzonereleased in mid-November to largely positive reviews, as well as some remarkable momentum, seeing how Infinity Ward and Raven Software took less than a week tohit 25 millionWarzone 2players. For context, the originalWarzonepeaked at 127 million players back in June 2021,15 months into its release. In spite of that initial success, some players were still left frustrated by the omission of many quality-of-life features from the first game, not to mention the presence of multiple bugs affecting the overall gameplay experience.

A new gameplay clip shared by Reddit user Dannyy760 illustrates a potential design oversight concerningCall of Duty: Warzone 2. Namely, the perfectly central placement of the “mortar strike incoming” notification obscures the player’s line of sight during engagements, rendering aiming down the sights useless for the duration of the message. Given how the notification stays on screen for several seconds, the existing banner placement is likely to have dire consequences in competitive play, though it could just as easily frustrate casual players, as well.
TheCall of Duty: WarzoneSeason 3 Reloaded updatereleased in mid-2022 already dealt with a near-identical issue when it repositioned the “incoming killstreak” warning banner, whose original placement also had a tendency to block the player’s line of sight during combat. The fact that this quality-of-life change did not inform the UI design ofWarzone 2has seemingly soured a portion of the players, some of whom are still voicing their frustrations with this state of affairs in response to the newly shared gameplay clip.
According to theCall of Duty: Warzone 2Battle Passtimer, the inaugural season of the game is scheduled to conclude on January 31. It remains to be seen whether Infinity Ward and Raven Software manage to address this newly highlighted issue before Season 2 kicks off next month.
Call of Duty: Warzone 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
