Call of Duty: Modern Warfarehas been a massive hit for Activision, with the base game selling millions and theWarzonebattle royale becoming one of the most-played BR games of all time. Considering this, it’s no surprise that aModern Warfaresequel is in the cards, and now narrative director Taylor Kurosaki has teased one of the characters that will be featured in the upcoming game. Please be aware that this post will havespoilersfor theCall of Duty: Modern Warfarecampaign as well as the originalModern Warfare 2, so anyone that has yet to finish the story should proceed with caution.
At the end of theCall of Duty: Modern Warfarecampaign, the character Alex seemingly sacrifices himself in an explosion. However, theModern WarfareSeason 3 multiplayer has since confirmed that Alex did not actually die in the explosion. Instead he just lost his leg and is now sporting a prosthetic, having kept a low profile until he was called back into action by Captain Price.

Some fans were upset that Alex was brought back as part of theModern WarfareSeason 3 multiplayerinstead of in the campaign for inevitableCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Twitter user TMevo22 expressed as much to Kurosaki, who responded with, “Who says we won’t?” This seems to be a good indication that Alex will be featured in the upcomingCall of Duty: Modern Warfaresequel, and maybe will even have a proper re-introduction, though fans will have to wait to find out more on that front.
There are some fan theories that Alex inCall of Duty: Modern Warfarewill actually become one of the characters from the originalModern Warfaretrilogy. This includes a theory that Alex is actually going to be Roach, which would likely mean that he still has an unfortunate fate ahead of him. One of the most famous scenes from theoriginalModern Warfare 2is when Roach and Ghost are killed by General Shepherd, so it’s possible that moment will be recreated in the reboot series.
However, it’s unlikely that too many plot details forModern Warfare 2have been ironed out at this point. Infinity Ward is focused on supporting the currentModern Warfarewith regular content updates, and the next two years will likely seenewCall of Dutygames from other developersunder the Activision umbrella. It’s possible that the reboot version ofModern Warfare 2won’t be out to the masses until 2022 at the earliest, so fans should prepare for a long wait ahead of them.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
