An Activision Blizzard insider has revealed thatCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2will have ten six-versus-six maps on launch, with the beta map missing from playlists. The Valderas Museum map that manyCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2players have already become acquainted with through the beta phase will be missing on day one, leaving them with a set of new maps to explore.
Call of Dutyoutlet CharlieIntel has confirmed thatCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2will launch with only ten 6v6 maps available on day one, excluding the Valderas Museum beta map. This was announced alongside a video showing the map rotation for the launch which includes theCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2multiplayer mapsthat beta players didn’t have access to like Al Bagra Fortress, Mercado Las Almas, and Zarqwa Hydroelectric. Beyond these 6v6 launch maps,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2will also come with Ground War maps such as Sa’id, Sariff Bay, and Santa Sena.

Confirming the existing launch maps, CharlieIntel revealed the brief lineup of 6v6Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2multiplayer maps in a video alongside their tweet, with each card of map art providing a glimpse at the layout of the different options. According to CharlieIntel, the Valderas Museum map from the beta has been removed from this playlist which will encompassgame modes like Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, and more. It’s currently unclear if the Valderas Museum map will be added back into the rotation, but it may require some adjustments after feedback received in the beta process as other maps are explored as extensively byCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2players.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s Valderas Museummap had a similar three-lane structure to maps of the past, with an emphasis on verticality and tight corridors that deviate from the main paths. Although manyCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2beta players expressed their enthusiasm for the 6v6 map, Activision Blizzard may have removed it from the playlist to resolve a problem discovered during the public testing phase. Activision Blizzard has yet to confirm whenCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2players can expect Valderas Museum to be added back to the 6v6 rotation to provide more gameplay variety, but it may be patched in a future update.
While someCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2beta players responded to CharlieIntel’s tweet with celebration for the removal of the map, one fan lamented the lack of locations from the originalModern Warfare 2. One franchise veteran took the opportunity to express thatCall of Duty: Vanguardlaunched with 16 core maps, but thatModern Warfare2019 had the same amount of launch maps.
