The latest Borderlands Show broadcast was packed full of announcements and teasers for upcomingBorderlands3content. DLC 3,Bounty of Blood: A Fistful of Redemption, was revealed for the very first time. The new Takedown at Guardian Beach free content update was also shown. But stealing the show was a very brief teaser forBorderlands 3’s fourth and final premium DLC release. No name was given, but a single piece of concept art already hasBorderlands 3fans deep in speculation.
The piece ofBorderlands 3concept art shows a psycho character that many believe to be Krieg at the center of the image. The right half of the image is colored with red and yellow. It features sharp angles and a chaos that makes it seem like everything is either floating or has been thrown into the air. The left half of the image is tinged in blue and green and has a much more unsettling and morose atmosphere. The two sides perhaps represent the two halves of Krieg’s splintered mind.

Krieg, for those who are unfamiliar, is aDLC character fromBorderlands 2. Krieg is a psycho with a fractured mind, described as a man driving an out of control truck that he cannot stop. All he can do is steer it away from innocent as much as possible. At the end ofBorderlands 2, Krieg exiled himself, despite gaining some control over his reckless tendencies. Krieg also has a notable infatuation with Maya, which is sure to lead to some frightening consequences in this new DLC.
The seeming confirmation thatKrieg is tied toBorderlands 3’s fourth DLC isn’t wholly a surprise. Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford has previously said that, “we think that [Krieg] deserves a showcase.” He then goes on to hint thatBorderlands 3players will “see what it’s like to be inside the head of the wildest psycho we know.”
Judging from Pitchford’s previous comments and the new piece of concept art,Borderlands 3’s fourth premium DLCwill have players literally traveling inside of Krieg’s mind. Why they’re doing so and what they’ll find remains to be seen.
It will be a while yet before more information regardingBorderlands 3’s fourth DLC is shared. Gearbox is just beginning to share more information about DLC 3, after all. But in a few months, Krieg is all but certain to take the spotlight. And since DLC 4 is the finalBorderlands 3premium DLCcurrently announced, it’ll definitely be worth looking forward to.
Borderlands 3is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
