The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomwill not be an easy game to finish in a single afternoon. The game is massive, just like the first game, and will easily last hundreds of hours. Players could bum rush through the story content to get to the ending, but that would defeat the purpose of this gorgeous open-world adventure.

Players should take their time and explore all nooks and crannies. But, for players that do eventually finishThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, here are some games they should check out next. The most obvious recommendations are more games in theZeldaseries, so those were left out.
8Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Boltswas the last game in the series and it changed things dramatically. The game was a more open-world experience and to aid players in getting around, a building mechanic was added. Players could customize various vehicles from random parts to skate around the world in search of various collectibles.
This split the fan base at the time where some think this was a fun move while others thought it over-complicated things. The same building mechanics may cause some controversy for fans inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomas well.

7BioMutant
BioMutanthad a rough launch in 2021 due to bugs. A lot of those bugs have been fixed, making now a good time to jump back in or in for the first time after finishing upThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The game follows a mutant anthropomorphic creature that players can customize visually and with various powers.
There are tons of weird weapons to collect from swords to guns and the world is huge. There are even vehicles players can pilot from a mech to an airship. This open-world experiencedeserves a second chance.

6BioShock Infinite
BioShock Infiniteis a great game to jump into for those that liked the air aspects ofThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This game is the latest in the franchise and took players to the heavenly sanctuary of Columbia resting in the clouds.

Players could hop from floating city to city on a railway system they traversed via a grappling device. There’s simply no other game like it visually. Not evenThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’sfloating segments come close to the unique ideas presented inBioShock Infinite. The shooter aspectsare different in terms of gameplay, but it’s still worth recommending.
5Dark Cloud 2
Dark Cloud 2is a classic RPG from the PS2 era and may be one of the system’s best. Players traversed randomly generated dungeons through time and could change between two characters. The main goal was to uncover resources to help rebuild various societies across these time periods.
Players could build houses, or plant trees to help appease the NPCs of these areas. There was even a robot that players could customize and ride into battle just like Biomutant.

4Death Stranding
Death Stranding, at its core, was a stealth-based shooter. However, there were a lot of segments wherein players just walked across the wide landscapes of the now-defunct United States without engaging in combat. The post-apocalyptic worldis shared withThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdombut there are other similarities too.
To make these travels easier, players could build things like roads to drive around on or launchers to get places quickly. The one thingDeath Strandinghas overThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis its multiplayer aspects which would have been cool to see in this latestZeldaadventure.

3Dragon Quest Builders 2
Dragon Quest Builders 2is the latest entry in this spinoff series from the RPG juggernaut. It ispart action RPGand partMinecraftsimulator. There is a story involved that players can follow to access new regions or to gain new recipes.

For fans that just want to build a world, they can do that as well and with friends. It is a mechanically more sound game than the first title and it will surely scratch that crafting/adventurous itch more so thanMinecraft. It is a wonderful blend of genres.
2Elden Ring
Elden Ringwas built on the heels of FromSoftware’s other Soulslike games. It’s hard to deny that it also seems heavily inspired byThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. From the giant open world to the minimalistic story, it’s all here and present in this game. It’s a darker and harder game forZeldafans to be sure.
It, likeDeath Stranding, does have new elements though suchas co-op capabilitiesonline. Co-op would have also been great to see inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Imagine a game wherein Link and Zelda fought side by side one another with Zelda being controllable by a friend on the couch.

1Immortals Fenyx Rising
Ubisoft worked with Nintendo on two Switch projects. They addedStar Foxcharacters intoStarlink: Battle for Atlasand then they made theMario + Rabbidstactical RPG games.Immortals Fenyx Risingfeels like it should have been aKid Icaruscollaboration but it instead turned into an original property.
It’s based on Greek mythology and puts players in a giant world filled with things to do. It is the closest Ubisoft had come yet to replicating the magic ofThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It would have been better as a crossover game but it’s still fun without Pit around.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomwas released on July 21, 2025, and is available on Switch.
