The upcoming co-op zombie gameBack 4 Bloodwill see players pick up in a similar place as theLeft 4 Deadseries. This is in-part becauseBack 4 Bloodis being developed by Turtle Rock Studios, a studio that includes developers from the originalLeft 4 Dead. The game features a lot of popular mechanics from that original series, and improves on a whole list of other features as well.
Back 4 Bloodwas revealed in early 2019, and has recently been releasing a lot of information about what to expect. At E3 2021, a bunch of new modes and the game’s release date were shown. With hordes bigger than anything players ever saw inLeft 4 Dead,Back 4 Bloodhas the potential to be better than its Valve predecessors. The new zombie game being published by Warner Bros. Interactive has big shoes to fill, but being available on Xbox Game Pass on day one will certainly help.

Everyone knewBack 4 Bloodwould carrysome comparisons toLeft 4 Dead, but it wasn’t clear how similar these titles would be until trailers debuted. In its E3 showcases, players got a look at the hordes and special zombie types that would be hunting them. Some of the classic zombie archetypes will appear, such as the classic tanks and hunters, with new additions as well. The trailer showcases a zombie that extends its neck and sends out a loud noise to draw any nearby hordes to the player, known as a Snitch.
The new story trailer wasn’t the only thing shown at E3. A new four-on-four PvP mode was revealed, Swarm. In this mode, players will also be the special versions of the Ridden, reminiscent of the Versus mode inLeft 4 Dead 2.When thecharacters inBack 4 Bloodare blocked by obstacles or zombies, they even glow with an aura that looks similar to the prior series. The team certainly learned a lot from their time working onLeft 4 Dead, and have given players a lot of what they loved before.

Back 4 Bloodwill be the spiritual successor toLeft 4 Deadthat fans have been waiting for. It evolves on the previous game’s formula with larger hordes and new special zombies. It will also take advantage of the multiplayer modes that were found in the original series, letting players see how long they can last against the horde while letting the other team play as horrific zombies.
