After today’s Ubisoft Forward event, players were able to get anextended look at gameplayfor the upcomingAssassin’s Creed Valhalla. While most were focused on the combat and the ferocity of the main character Eivor, Ubisoft also took the time to show the return of a weird side activity that hasn’t been seen sinceAssassin’s Creed Black FlagandAssassin’s Creed Rogue.
As more information has emerged aboutAssassin’s Creed Valhallaover the past few months, it’s become clear the game isn’t afraid to pull from some older entries in the series. Back in May, it was confirmed that the game would bring back thesocial stealth mechanicthat was considered iconic in the original games. This mechanic allowed players to live out the assassin fantasy of “hiding in plain sight” by blending in with crowds with the push of a button.

It seems like another returning feature to the game will be the paper chase side activity that was last seen inAssassin’s Creed Rogue. This activity would have players chasing after pieces of paper that would float delicately in various directions. InRogue’s case, collecting the papers would unlock new sea shanties for the ship crew to sing.
ForAssassin’s Creed Valhalla, it looks like the pages will unlock something else though. For collecting the pieces of paper, players will unlock access to new tattoo designs tocustomize their version of Eivor. There’s currently no word on how many pages there are to collect, but hopefully, it will be enough to cover the Viking assassin head-to-toe in ink.
Although tattoos are a nice reward for collecting these pages, it is a little disappointing that the pages won’t have anything to do with music like in previous entries.Assassin’s Creed Valhallafeatures flyting, a form ofViking rap battle. It’s easy to imagine a system where players could collect these wayward pages and learn new insults to use in their next competition. It looks like players will just have to wait to find out more information about these systems when the game arrives later this year.
Assassin’s Creed Valhallareleases on August 07, 2025, on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
