Summary

Assassin’s Creed Redwill feature at least two gameplay elements that are extremely similar toSekiro: Shadows Die Twice, a well-known Ubisoft leaker has claimed, in addition to sharing a huge amount of other previously unreported details about the upcoming game. This unofficial info dump emerged online just as another report suggested that theprotagonists ofAssassin’s Creed Redwill include a samurai called Yasuke.

The first Japan-set entry in the long-running franchise is expected to feature at least one additional playable character. That otherAssassin’s Creed Redprotagonist already appeared onlinein some artwork back in October. Assassin’s Creed Red May Feature a Grappling Hook and Posture Meter, Similar to Sekiro

The same French leaker has now taken to YouTube to share a huge amount of new information aboutAssassin’s Creed Red. With a runtime of nearly 20 minutes, his latest video goes over many previously unreported details about the game, including the claim that the next mainlineAssassin’s Creedinstallment will feature a grappling hook, similar toSekiro. The similarities between Ubisoft’s upcoming title and FromSoftware’s 2019 hit may not end there, as j0nathan also claimed thatRed’s combat will incorporate a posture bar that players will be able to fill to destabilize enemies, according to a translation of his remarks shared byReddit user Cygus_Lorman.

The YouTuber also reported thatRedwill havea bigger world thanAssassin’s Creed Valhalla, while noting that its map will still be smaller than that ofOdyssey. Furthermore, Ubisoft is currently said to be experimenting with the idea of doing away with an abundance of map markers that has long been a series staple. In terms of other new features,Redwill supposedly allow players to go prone, extinguish torches in order to create dark hiding spots, and even recruit spies.

The purported spy system is allegedly tied to the game’s camp liberation mechanics, similar to those from many past Ubisoft games. Specifically, each camp inAssassin’s Creed Redwill reportedly have a commander that players will be able to kill or spare. The former will supposedly reward them with loot, while the latter option will allegedly result in the spared character joining the protagonist’s spy network and starting to provide them with mission-related intelligence.

The YouTuber also mentioned thatRedwill pit players against ashigaru, a type of feudal-era Japan infantry traditionally armed with primitive rifles known as matchlocks. Finally, the leaker claimed that the game will be filled to the brim with gadgets, including kunai, shuriken, smoke bombs, and even bells, whose purpose remains unclear. Some recent developments alsoindicated thatAssassin’s Creed Redwill replace modern-day segmentswith a story set in the final decade of the 21st century, but j0nathan did not reflect on those claims.

Assassin’s Creed

Assassin’s Creed is an action-adventure stealth series published and developed by Ubisoft and its various first party studios. Originally releasing in 2007, the series has seen 12 mainline releases with the recent games moving to a more open-world RPG style. Each game typically showcases major historical moments like the Italian Renaissance, Crusades, or French Revolution, focusing mostly on a long standing conflict between the free-minded Assassins against the order loving Knights Templar.
