Summary

Stardew Valleygives the player a lot of freedom to tell their story, and an epilogue might be the perfect payoff to that story. WithStardew Valley’s next update on the horizon, it’s clear that ConcernedApe is not finished working on his masterpiece quite yet. There is still more to see from Pelican Town and the Valley that can keep players coming back again and again. In addition to new content, some additional lore and story could be in order as well. An epilogue of sorts could be one of the things that boostsStardew Valley’s storytelling.

From the variousfarm types inStardew Valleyto the many people that they can befriend, players have a lot to do whenever they visit Pelican Town. Once players finish up their chores on the farm for the day, they essentially have free rein over what they want to do until nightfall, which helps to give the game a lot of its appeal. Stardew Valley’s Stories Could Benefit From a Look at the Future

An Epilogue Could Wrap Up Stardew Valley’s Stories

Plenty will be coming inStardew Valleyupdate 1.6, including new features and content. One idea that hasn’t been announced, but could be a good addition to the game is an epilogue of sorts. Essentially, a good epilogue would give players a glimpse at what happens a few years into Pelican Town’s future. Although time does pass over the course ofStardew Valley, it rarely has much of an impact outside of Kent’s return, Grandpa’s appraisal, and determining the current season. Adding an epilogue would let players see what the Valley and farm would look like after a more realistic passing of years.

Stardew Valley Has Several Characters Worth Following Up On

One advantage to having an epilogue would be thecharacter stories inStardew Valleythat players could see play out. Of course, the relationship between the player and their spouse would have to be prominent, but the rest of Pelican Town has their own stories as well. An epilogue segment could follow up on the marriage candidates that the player didn’t choose, as well as other characters with things going on in their lives, like Gus and Kent. Even Krobus could get some development by being able to interact with the rest of the town, which would be a treat to see.

An Epilogue Could be Stardew Valley’s Final Perfection Reward

Of course, for a game likeStardew Valley, an ending is hard to define. However, achieving Perfection inStardew Valleymay be the closest thing to one. Perfection requires players to complete several tasks, but once finished, it unlocks new content, such as a special cutscene at The Summit and a few new, highly valuable items. An epilogue cutscene could fit well with the other rewards of perfection. Even so, it may be best framed as a dream so that players can continue playing the game afterwards. That way, the epilogue would feel like a proper reward for all of the player’s hard work.

Stardew Valley’s story is not exactly linear, but it could offer players some closure nonetheless. In addition togrowing everything possible inStardew Valley, players can easily be drawn in by the various villagers that they can befriend and romance. Adding an epilogue would add a last touch to the story of Pelican Town, and give a bright view of the Valley’s future. The events ofStardew Valleyare entirely up to the player, but an epilogue could apply a feel-good finale for the tale of Pelican Town’s new farmer.
