Developers Innersloth and Schell Games officially revealed the release date forAmong Us VRduring Tuesday’s Meta Connect showcase showing off new games for the Meta Quest. The VR version of the online sensation was originallyannounced during last year’s Game Awards, confirming its development for Meta Quest, SteamVR, and PlayStation VR. The game will make several departures from its predecessor, with its transition to a first-person perspective as one of the most notable. Now, fans won’t have to wait much longer for the popular game to come to VR platforms.

Among Usofficially revealed the release date for the game’s VR version during the Meta broadcast.Among Us VRis currently scheduled to launch early next month on November 10 with the game priced at $9.99. The VR version will feature similar online multiplayer to the original with lobbies of up to 10 players trying to discover the “impostors” in the group. New crewmate tasks created based on those in the originalAmong Uswill look to take advantage of the 3D virtual reality gameplay.

The launch trailer forAmong Us VRshown during the Meta Connect stream showcased several of the changes coming in the virtual reality version. Emergency meetings have been overhauled with players able to see one another during the discussions, with VR hands allowing players to point at other suspicious crewmates. The game’s death scenes also feature 3D re-imaginings of many of theiconic kill animations from the originalAmong Us.Multiple trailers have already shown off the original game’s Skeld map remade as a fully 3D environment.

Among UsVRcomes after the game originally saw its explosion in popularity during 2020, following its viral success with streamers on Twitch and YouTube. Despite taking two years to catch on after its initial launch, the social deduction gamehas remained massively popular over the past two years.Among Usranked as the 5th most played gameof Q1 2022 earlier this year in a report from market research company The NPD Group. Innersloth has continued to roll out new content for the original game as well with new maps, roles, and accessibility features regularly added toAmong Us.

Among Us VRwill look to be the first major follow-up to the popular indie game with previous projects falling by the wayside. Innersloth co-founder Marcus Bromander revealed earlier this year that thedeveloper had originally “abandoned"Among Usbefore its rise in popularity, intending to work on a sequel to the game. The success ofAmong Usalso brought with it a variety of crossovers with other popular franchises likeLeague of LegendsandFortnite.Among Us VRwill look to provide a different spin on the classic gameplay with its 3D environments and virtual reality twist.
