Some of the developers at Remedy have recently spoken to Wccftech aboutAlan Wake 2and its upcoming October 17 release date. The developers have confidently stated that they aren’t afraid of the competition the game will face in October. This month in particular willcome packed with plenty of content for horror game fans. Thomas Puha, Communications Director at Remedy Entertainment, stated that “We really only worry about making the best game we can. That’s what’s ultimately the most important thing.” The director also stated that there will always be competition, which isn’t much of a factor.
Puha also spoke about Saga Anderson and her partner, Alex Casey. The developer confirmed that this character is the same as the titular character from Alan Wake’s action-thriller that became his bestseller work. Puha didn’t waste time to coyly say that this revelation is “very meta, with many levels of meta.” Further in the interview, he spokeabout how long it takes to beatAlan Wake 2, saying that the game will roughly take 20 hours to complete depending on the player’s skills. The reason for this comes due to the dual nature of the story in which players will switch back and forth between each of the protagonists as they experience their own horrors.
On a more technical level, the developer also spoke aboutAlan Wake 2’s connection with theoverall connected universe developed by Remedy. While Thomas had no comment on whether any characters fromControlwould make an appearance in this game, he did say that “if you have played our previous games, the first and the second expansion ofControl(AWE), which kind of spells out how this whole game begins, then yeah, there’s a lot of connections there and a lot of stuff to find out.” As such, players should be able to expect some deep connections betweenAlan Wake 2andControlhidden within the main story and investigations.
Alan Wake 2is due for release on October 17 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
