It has been nearly three years since All Elite Wrestling’s answer to theWWE 2Kseries was first announced, with longtime wrestling sim developer Yukes lending its decades of in-ring experience toFight Forever’s more retro-style gameplay. Responses toAEW Fight Foreverhave been rather mixed so far, with some fans praising the game’s simpler and more nostalgic feel and others decryingits many technical issues on PS4and lack of features in comparison toWWE 2K23.

One of the biggest figures involved inAEW Fight Forever’s long and at times troubled development process has been Kenny Omega. The in-ring performer and executive vice president of All Elite Wrestling has made his fondness for gaming readily apparent over the years, and it was through him that many ofAEW Fight Forever’s defining features were unveiled. Even afterFight Forever’s release, Kenny Omega has actively encouraged continued discussions and feedback on the game and its many divisive aspects.

In a recent interview with Uproxx, Kenny Omega discussedAEW Fight Foreverand promised that more content would be coming soon. One of the things he confirmed wasFight Forever’s Stadium Stampede mode, a new multiplayer battle royale match type that was leaked shortly after launch. He also hinted at more customization options for the game’s character creation suite and additional wrestlers, though he remained tight-lipped on the details. “There is always going to be additions to this game,” Omega stated during the interview. “You haven’t seen anything yet. You’ve seen a little bit, but you haven’t seen a lot of things that I’m very excited for.”

As for which existing wrestlerscould be added toAEW Fight Forever, Kenny Omega hinted at representation from Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. So far, six post-launch DLC wrestlers have been confirmed, including current AEW Tag Team Champions Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood. These wrestlers will be added toFight Forever’s roster in the upcoming “Elite Edition” expansion.

AEW Fight Foreverhas been seen as a promising first attempt for the young wrestlingpromotion and a fun throwback toclassic wrestling games likeWWF No Mercy, but most agree that there is still room for improvement. Luckily, THQ seems to be adding more to the game post-launch, with Kenny Omega hinting at some truly exciting things like Stadium Stampede and crossovers with Ring of Honor and NJPW inFight Forever’s future.
