Last year, after seven long years of waiting, fans finally had the chance to play the once infamously Japanese exclusiveAce Attorneygames through a collection calledThe Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. This title not only delivered two of the biggest games in the series, but also sparked a renewed interest in the series from publisher Capcom, which has long struggled to retain the series' popularity in the west. Surprisingly, Capcom has now announced a newAce Attorneyconcert which is in commemoration of the series' 20th anniversary.

TheAce Attorneyseries celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, making the announcement of a 20th anniversary concert taking place in May 2022 somewhat surprising. The series began in 2001 on the Game Boy Advance in Japan under the title “Gyakuyen Saiban,” which was later localized asPhoenix Wright: Ace Attorneyon the Nintendo DS in 2005. The first three entries followed bumbling rookie lawyer Phoenix Wright through a series of often equally suspenseful and comedic investigations along with the series' famous courtroom sequences, in which players must cross-examine witnesses and present evidence against contradictory statements.

The last new entry in the series wasThe Great Ace Attorney 2: Resolve, whichwas localized for the first time outside of Japan as part ofThe Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. Despite this, Capcom has kept the series afloat through re-releases such as the aforementionedGreat Ace Attorneycollection and 2019’sPhoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy.

The concert that has been announced, a show dedicated to celebrating the series' 20-year history, will take place on May 7th, 2022 at the Bankamura Orchard Hall in Tokyo, Japan. Fans interested in viewing the event abroad can purchase a digital ticket via the streaming service Zaiko for ¥3500 (roughly $27.) The live stream archive of the event will be viewable until May 16th, 2022. The show will contain music from all 11 of the games in the series, likely including some tracks found inthe crossover gameProfessor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorneyas well.

The most recent concert however, 2021’sGreat Ace Attorneyfocused event, came only a few weeks before the publisher announced the re-release that brought the games overseas. This could imply that Capcom is planning some sort ofAce Attorneyannouncement in the coming months, however this is purely speculation. Capcom’s leaks from 2020 did suggest thatthe company still has plans for the series beyondThe Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, maybe even including a seventh entry in the main series.

The Great Ace Attorney Chroniclesis available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, and PlayStation 4.
