A Plague Tale: Innocencetakes the player on a narrative journey based around survival and stealth. Most of the enemies encountered by protagonist Amicia will kill her on sight if she is spotted in the firstPlague Talegame, with the exception of enemies with unprotected heads, who can be taken out with the player’s sling. For many,A Plague Tale: Innocenceis about Amicia protecting her younger brothermore than it is about taking the fight to the Inquisition for what they have done to her family. However, it seems that the sequel,A Plague Tale: Requiem, may change that.
A Plague Tale: Requiemis the second historical game set in the time of the Hundred Years War from Focus Entertainment and French developer Asobo Studio. LikeA Plague Tale: Innocencebefore it,A Plague Tale: Requiemwill feature a heavy amount of realism and historical accuracy despite being a fictional work. It will also feature Amicia as the main protagonist as she continues to protect her brother Hugo. However, from a new gameplay trailer shown at theXbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, it seems there will be a few major differences inA Plague Tale: Requiemfrom it’s predecessor.

The trailer opens with some bodies hanging from a tree, letting viewers know they’re still in for a gritty and gory experience. Then, the perspective changes to show Amicia walking through some of the new environments players will encounter inA Plague Tale: Requiem. While this will at first appear familiar to fans ofA Plague Tale: Innocence,Requiemquickly shows how it will turn up the action as a montage of Amicia killing enemies is shown.
Using a knife, a newly equipped crossbow, or even bombs, it seems Amicia is much more of a capable fighter than she was inA Plague Tale: Innocence. The story will perhaps focus on Amicia’s turn to violence as well, as throughout the trailer she can be heard saying that she is tired of being afraid and wants to show the Inquisition that they’re “nothing to be scared of.” From other pieces ofgameplay and cutscenes shown at the Tribeca Games Festival, it seems that Amicia will go through a new journey of her own inA Plague Tale: Requiem.
Of course, alongside Amicia, her brother will also feature some new character developments. In the trailer shown at the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase, he appears only for a short moment, but it appears that his powers of controlling the rats may become more prominent inA Plague Tale: Requiem. With so many newtrailers and screenshots ofA Plague Tale: Requiem, fans now are just waiting for an official release date.
A Plague Tale: Requiemwill release on PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S in 2022.
